Capability Maturity Model Integration

"The CMMI Product Suite is the future of process improvement."¹

The Software Engineering Institute incorporated the SW-CMM^®, as well as two other models (SE-CMM^® and IPD-CMM^®) into the Capability Maturity Model Integration and published CMMI v1.1 in December 2001. One result of this change is that the SEI-authorized assessment methods that support these legacy models -– CBA IPI and SCE –- will only be accepted and the data consolidated in the appropriate community process maturity profile through December 2005. SCAMPI^SM v1.1 will be the single appraisal method of choice as of January 2006.

In anticipation of the sunsetting of SW-CMM^®, CMI is pleased to offer services in these areas.

1. Work with companies that are fully committed to achieving their SW-CMM^® goals by the December, 2005 sunset date and recognize that they require additional resources and industry expertise to meet this important and imminent objective.
2. Advise companies on whether they should continue with their current SW-CMM^® initiative or begin the upgrade to CMMI^®.
3. Develop strategy to upgrade a company’s SW-CMM^®-appraised processes, including selection of the appropriate CMMI^® model (CMMI-SW, CMMI-SE/SW, CMMI-SE/SW/IPPD or CMMI-SE/SW/IPPD/SS) and representation (staged or continuous).
