Clearcase Build Performance Degradation - This whitepaper presents a root cause analysis regarding a performance issue with IBM Rational ClearCase, a complex configuration management application. This issue was discovered in the enterprise environment at one of CMI's customers in the financial sector.

With respect to two network access protocols that are supported for ClearCase on the Microsoft Windows platform - NFS and CIFS/SMB - the whitepaper seeks to:

1) Provide an overview of the findings
2) Define the bottleneck
3) Provide an overview of IBM Rational's response and status of the RFE
4) Make several recommendations to mitigate the impact of the issue

The solutions used were NFS Maestro and TAS, but much of the information presented may generally be applied to other ClearCase environments.
